Rebirth. Refresh, return. Where the Sun meets the Sea, I am able to witness the pure elements in unrefined majesty. Of the Pure Flame, illuminating all and bringing forth tremendous warmth; of the untamed waters, breathing in and out according to tidal forces; of the raw earth, the sand, the blending of stone and bone and shell and unknown, generations of time’s manifestation into forms now destroyed to be re-assimilated; of unbridled air, circulating immense clouds overhead while dancing as wind among sails and gulls. All of these elements speak to that which is within me.
Twenty-Eight signifies the elements that are calling to be recognized for all that they may be through tempering accordingly. In truth, “all that is” comes from the blending of these components at different ratios. How do I understand what they communicate within my nature? Often, it seems, the issue with the creation of something new is in the ability to integrate an unincorporated element.
Fire is passion, the warmth within given to others to receive; if not tempered with water, it can be too dry, too hot to touch, and the raw fuel will burn too quickly to endure.
Water is the emotional connection, the voice that interconnects all to feeling. Too much water can incite a depth that is seemingly too cold and dark for others to explore; although this awareness speaks to the subconscious nature within, if others have not come to explore and expand it will be lost in translation. With no depth, however, it is shallow and superficial. Tempered with fire gives a warmth to nourish, comfort, and sustain transformation; too much fire, no substance will exist through the evaporation.
The earth is the substance, the form and the container. The purpose of the container created is to be able to carry it according to strength and endurance, filled with life-nourishing elements, for the sake of exploration and seeing into the unknown. If the container becomes too large, functioning as a storehouse next to the source of the resource, what is the true purpose beyond usurping resources for self use? What is property ownership, truly? It is not all bad. And, as is evidenced through history up through our present time, it is not all good.
The air is the means of movement, the universal communicator; too dull, it will not be heard and not move beyond near sight. If too overwhelming, it will not be understood and carry away that which was established and in place. And yet, how established was this if it is capable of toppling? Is it not healthy to test the limits of structures? Is it healthy to endlessly fixate on testing the limits of structures? The delicate can never endure if such is the case, and all adapt a hardness as consequence.
How do I commune with these elements according to my own design and definitions?
How do I honor the unique inter-meshing of the elements that distinguish me and yet unite me with all within nature?
Can it be that the elements are also living and sentient, growing and adapting, communicating and collaborating, as they move through time with me?
Could they also be learning through their own ignorance in order to develop new layers of understanding in relation to harmony and chemistry?
